Clinical Midwife - Midwifery Group Practice (Cooktown)
Tell me more...The Clinical Midwife (CM) - Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) role is to care for an allocated group of women, in collaboration with other health care providers within the Midwifery Group Practice, at the Cooktown Multipurpose Health Service and the surrounding remote communities.
To be successful in this role you will have:
Advanced knowledge and practice in the application of evidenced based clinical management, diagnostic investigation and pharmacological management of women across the continuum of pregnancy, birth and the post-natal period.
Advanced level of communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with hospital and community health providers within the Torres Cape Hospital and Health Service and beyond.
Ability to provide advanced clinical leadership across the multi-disciplinary team that reflects the highest possible standards of relevant legislation and contemporary models of practice which includes quality improvement, maternal and neonatal research and professional development.

Requirements for the role:
Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and/or registration/endorsement with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to commencement of clinical duties. Current registration with the Australian Health Practice Registration Authority (APHRA) as a registered midwife and current practising certificate is mandatory.
Current certificate in neonatal resuscitation / obstetric emergency management.
Appointees will be required to work under the Cooktown Midwifery Group Practice Model Local Agreement 2015 which includes working variable hours and on call for annualised salary arrangement including 35% loading and 6 weeks Recreation leave.
